Manchester United are ready to sign two midfield starlets as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to increase his reinforcements, Metro
Basel teenager Granit Xhaka has been earmarked as a potential signing for Sir Alex Ferguson, who impressed against the Red Devils in the Champions League. The 19 year old is available for around £7m and would suit the United boss, who has a talent for enhancing young players. Competition is fierce for Xhaka and United face rivals in German side Hamburg and Italian club Lazio.
Manchester City are also placing a branch of their scouting network in Switzerland and United’s hand may be forced sooner than they wanted. Xhaka is only young and United are looking for a bit more experience in Champions League and international football to help their midfield. The main focus for Ferguson is a creative midfielder and with the difficulties in the Wesley Sneijder deal from Inter Milan, United have had to cast their eye elsewhere.
CSKA Moscow star Alan Dzagoev is also a target for Sir Alex Ferguson. The Russian international has been watched for two years by United and were interested in making a bid last summer. CSKA did not listen to offers last summer and their stance is not expected to change this month. United could make a surprise bid for the tricky 21 year old, whose deal with CSKA expires in the summer. If Dzagoev does not make moves to sign with the Russian club, United could sign him on a cut-price deal. The 21 year old is one of the best playmakers in European football at the moment.
