Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone has joined Championship side Hull City on loan until the end of the season, arsenal.com reports.
The 23 year old Italian has been on loan at the KC Stadium already in his career, making ten appearances last season. Mannone returns to East Yorkshire hopeful of continuing his good form and help the Tigers’ promotion hopes. The 23 year old has featured only once so far this season in the Champions League group stage game away at Olympiakos.
Mannone signed a long-term contract with the Gunners in January 2010, but has only made ten appearances in his Arsenal career. The former Atlanta keeper moved to North London at the age of 17 and has been a regular in the Arsenal reserves. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hoping another loan spell can give the Italian the confidence to return to Arsenal and fight for his place.
Wenger has preferred Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny so far this season and the goalkeeper has returned the faith. Many have called for the Frenchman to sign a more experienced shot-stopper in recent windows, but Szczesny has repayed his manager’s faith with some good performances.
