Morrison expected to move to West Ham after United contract refusal

Manchester United youngster Ravel Morrison is on the verge of joining Championship side West Ham United after the Premier League champions told him they will not be offering him a new deal, The Guardian reports. The 18 year old is rated as one of the best talents to come through the United academy, but is reportedly looking for a higher salary than United are prepared to offer.

Sir Alex Ferguson took the decision to sell Morrison after he asked for a substantial weekly wage, despite making only a handful of substitute appearances for United. The 18 year old has also been involved in disciplinary issues outside of football during his time at Old Trafford and Ferguson believes it is risky to keep him at Old Trafford. West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is prepared to take the gamble on Morrison and is expected to tie up the deal soon.

Newcastle had a bid rejected by United earlier this month and Bolton’s offer was accepted, but Morrison turned down the chance to move to the Reebok Stadium. The 18 year old is hopeful for first-team football with the Hammers, who are in a good position to be promoted to the Premier League. Coaches at United rave about Morrison and once his match fitness is up to a good level, Allardyce will have no qualms about putting him in the first team.
