No Lampard Chelsea exit says Di Matteo

Chelsea assistant manager Roberto Di Matteo has rubbished claims that Frank Lampard will be leaving Stamford Bridge in January, The Mirror reports.

Lampard had been linked with a switch to Premier League champions Manchester United following a reported fallout with Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas. The 33 year old has seen his regular role in the starting lineup at Stamford Bridge start to turn into a rotation place and Lampard is not best pleased. Villas-Boas has tried to quell the storm and now former Chelsea midfielder Di Matteo has stopped any rumours of a Lampard move.

Di Matteo said: ‘I am not surprised other managers like him, but we are very happy Frank is in our team. He is a fantastic player and has been for season after season for many, many years for club and country. I can’t see him leaving this club. He has been here for 10 years and he is part of the successful history of the club’.

One player who is certain to move in at Chelsea is defender Gary Cahill and Di Matteo has praised the decision to bring the England international into the squad. The Italian believes that Cahill is joining at a great age and is a top central defender, who will add vastly to the current side.
