Nordfeldt claims he is close to Liverpool move

Swedish international Kristoffer Nordfeldt has revealed he is on the verge of a move to Liverpool and is on Merseyside discussing a deal, talkSPORT reports. The goalkeeper has been a free agent since leaving IF Brommapojkarna last summer and his wait for a club has seemingly ended.

The Reds currently have Pepe Reina as their number one goalkeeper and he is deputised by Brazilian goalkeeper Doni, who signed from AS Roma last summer. Nordfeldt could become the club’s second goalkeeper signing of January after they completed a deal for Ady Ward from Wrexham for £300,000. The 22 year old has made one appearance for Sweden and has told reporters in his homeland that he is excited about the prospect of moving to Anfield.

Nordfeldt said: ‘It’s really exciting. I’ll be flying to Liverpool on Monday with my agent. Of course it feels good but I don’t want to get overexcited because of this. I’ll just try to play it cool and see what they want to offer me. I know myself and have worked hard these last few months. I know that Liverpool likes me and has watched me for a long time. They like me so all I can do is believe in myself.’

Liverpool have yet to comment on the goalkeeper’s claims and could make an announcement over the deal before the end of the day. The Reds’ transfer dealings seem to have stopped to a half after they were linked with a raft of players in this window and boss Kenny Dalglish is not expecting to make any last-ditch offers.
