Norwich target Tottenham loanee for permanant deal

Norwich City boss Paul Lambert wants to sign Tottenham loanee Kyle Naughton on a permanent deal in January, The Norwich Evening News reports.

Naughton has impressed at Carrow Road so far this season and showed his versatility yesterday, playing left-back in the Canaries’ 1-1 draw with Fulham. Lambert has discussed a move with Spurs manager Harry Redknapp following their 2-0 loss against Spurs at Carrow Road in midweek. If Tottenham are prepared to sell Naughton, Lambert expects to be first in the queue and make an offer that will suit Naughton and Spurs.

Lambert said: ‘I spoke to Harry briefly the other night and I will probably speak to Harry again really soon. He is only a young lad learning the game and getting better every game. Kyle, I thought, was excellent. We aren’t going to have millions and millions of pounds to spend on players. You look at the wages of people. We can’t do it’.

Spurs signed Naughton, along with current first team right back Kyle Walker, for a combined fee of £8m from Sheffield United in 2009. Redknapp is looking for funds to improve his team and is expected to want £3m for the 23 year old.
