Redknapp admits Tottenham interest in Samba

Harry Redknapp has admitted his interest in signing Blackburn Rovers defender Chris Samba in the January transfer window, Sky Sports reports.

Spurs are looking for a defender to give them that extra ingredient as they push towards cementing a Champions League place as well as challenging for the Premier League. Samba’s future at Ewood Park has been the subject of speculation and Blackburn only just managed to keep Samba in the summer transfer window. The centre-half did not play against Newcastle on Saturday, which fuelled more rumour over an exit.

QPR have had a bid of £5m rejected for the Congolese defender, but are willing to return with a second offer. Harry Redknapp is ready to make a move for the Blackburn centre-half and has admitted the admiration he holds. Rovers boss Steve Kean admitted after the defeat to Newcastle that the club do not want to sell Samba, but a great offer may make it difficult.

Redknapp said: ‘I like Samba, he is a good player. I wouldn’t want to say it’s an impossibity. At the moment, he belongs to Blackburn, but he’s a good player’. The Spurs boss is also looking for an attacking talent and is interested in taking Juventus midfielder Milos Krasic on loan.
