Redknapp confident of FA Cup challenge

Harry Redknapp believes that Tottenham have ‘as good a chance of anyone’ in this season’s FA Cup, but are wary of a cup upset today, tottenhamhotspur.com reports.

Spurs take on League Two side Cheltenham Town at White Hart Lane and Redknapp is expected to use his squad players for the game. Tottenham last won the FA Cup in 1991 against Nottingham Forest and have managed to win the trophy eight times in their history. Redknapp is using the game to give some of his young players a chance as well as those returning from injury such as midfielder Aaron Lennon and defender Michael Dawson.

The Tottenham boss sees the threat of the Robins as a real one and Cheltenham boss Mark Yates has stated that his side will not fear the trip to North London. Cheltenham have not been beaten in their last nine games, but Redknapp believes his side will have the correct attitude to deal with the problem and progress to the next round.

‘We’re in two competitions and we’ve got to have a real go. I think we’ve got as good a chance as anyone and it’s a competition we want to do well in. We won’t be taking liberties with the game, but I do need to make changes. If we’re not spot on, we’ll find ourselves in trouble. I know what can happen in these games and we have to make sure we’re up for it and ready’, Redknapp said.
