Redknapp pleased with Cheltenham victory

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp took plenty of positives from the 3-0 FA Cup third round victory against Cheltenham at White Hart Lane, tottenhamhotspur.com reports.

Goals from Jermain Defoe, Roman Pavyluchenko and Giovani dos Santos gave Spurs the victory and progression to the fourth round. Redknapp made 10 changes from last Tuesday’s win over West Brom in the league and saw the return of Michael Dawson and Aaron Lennon. Redknapp praised Cheltenham’s endeavour in the game at White Hart Lane, but was delighted to get through to the next round of the cup.

Redknapp said: ‘We scored some good goals and I thought we played some good stuff. The two midfielders Pienaar and Kranjcar were outstanding. Niko was class and he’s a fantastic footballer. They kept the ball and moved the ball around great for us. It was a sell-out crowd, a full house and great atmosphere. The fans loved it and they were brilliant, as usual. It was a good day’.

The Spurs boss praised the return of captain Dawson as well as Lennon and believes they will get back into the first team squad as soon as possible. Tottenham have games coming thick and fast in the league and are desperate to reach the Champions League, as well as challenge for the title.
