Redknapp and Mancini have been embroiled in a war of words in the week leading up to today’s clash and the Spurs boss had previously said that the City manager has the easiest job with the spending power at his disposal. Redknapp has now cranked the pressure up further by claiming that the City bosses will not tolerate a season without a trophy and Mancini will have to give them a trophy this season.

On-loan signing Emmanuel Adebayor is ineligible to play against his parent club today, so Jermain Defoe starts up front at the Etihad Stadium today. Captain Ledley King is back fit after six weeks with injury and will be in the Spurs side to face City’s wealth of attacking talent, which Redknapp admitted he was envious of.
