Redknapp tells Spurs to believe

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has told his squad to keep pushing and believe they can win the title this season, tottenhamhotspur.com reports.

Jermain Defoe scored the winner in a hard-fought game against West Brom on Tuesday night and kept Spurs rooted to third place. Tottenham have lost just once in 17 games and are rated as the best footballing side in the Premier League by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Redknapp is delighted with his side, but is concerned that the title talk may unnerve his side and has told his players to keep working hard.

Redknapp said: ‘We’re there or thereabouts, we just have to keep believing, keep going. You never know, I’ve said that all along that nothing is impossible. But we’ve hard games coming up. Everton, you couldn’t think of tougher opposition, they are always difficult to beat. If we get three points, I’ll be delighted. Wolves will be tough as well. There are just no easy games’.

The Spurs boss believes that his squad also need another sprinkle of stardust. Redknapp has Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Emmanuel Adebayor in his squad, but wants another top attacker and defender to make his side even more capable of title success. Spurs are looking to Blackburn defender Christopher Samba and Chelsea striker Didier Drogba in the January transfer window.
