The 22-year-old Mexican has never really succeeded in breaking into the Spurs first eleven, making just four Premier League appearances this season. He has made clear his desire to leave the club in the January transfer window, with Sevilla, Villarreal and Granada all purportedly showing interest.
However, Sevilla have distanced themselves from reviving their summer interest in Dos Santos, club president Jose Maria del Nido claiming that Tottenham are demanding “an exorbitant amount for him.” Reportedly the fee being asked is around £6 million, but with most clubs baulking at the evaluation, Villarreal seem confident of getting their man.
“The negotiations are well on their way and it seems the player wants to come to Villarreal,” vice-president Jose Manuel Llaneza stated. “The deal is not finalised, but we expect a solution by the weekend.”
