Spurs boss Redknapp speaks of admiration for Ba

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has declared his admiration for Newcastle’s Demba Ba and says he wishes he had signed the striker last summer, according to ESPN.

Ba joined the Magpies on a free transfer after his former side, West Ham, were relegated, and has scored 15 goals in 17 starts in the league so far this season.

“He’s done very well, he’s a good player,” said Redknapp. “Looking back, everyone should have taken him when he left West Ham, shouldn’t they? We’re all wise after the event, as usual.”

Rumours in the press have claimed that Redknapp wants to add Ba to his squad during the transfer window, and take advantage of a reported £7 million buyout clause, but the Spurs boss denies any knowledge of this.

“I keep hearing conflicting stories about how much the buyout clause is, one person says one figure, another says he can be bought for X amount. The only ones who know are Newcastle and Demba Ba,” he added.
