Tottenham’s interest in Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Mateo Kovacic has increased after the Croatian club confirmed he could leave before the end of the January transfer window, talkSPORT
Modric has been linked with an exit from Spurs since last summer and with Chelsea making three separate bids, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may be happy to sell if he receives an offer to match his valuation. 17 year old Kovacic is valued at £10m and is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in European football with Dinamo desperate to retain his services. Kovacic is dreaming of a move to a big European league and Spurs are battling with Premier League leaders Manchester City and Italian giants Juventus. The 17 year old has scored four goals in 15 league games this season and is considered a fantastic playmaker.
Dinamo sporting director Zoran Mamic has revealed that the club are ready to listen to interest as the final week of the window comes into full flow. Spurs are looking to sign a player in the window and Kovacic could be their next talent, if they can identify a buyer for Modric. If a deal cannot be arranged for January, Spurs are prepared to wait until the summer to try and get the Croatian.
Mamic said: ‘Like the club, the player is quiet but in football anything can happen. We now have to wait and see over the next few days. But as of today he has not been sold to any club.’
