Tottenham to up interest in Marseille forward

Tottenham are laying plans down in the transfer market with boss Harry Redknapp travelling to France to scout Loic Remy, The Daily Mail reports.

The Spurs manager is a big fan of the Marseille striker and is prepared to watch the Frenchman in action to get a better view over a signing. Remy is valued at £20m by the French side and is a shoo-in for the France squad to travel for the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine this summer. The 24 year old is in action tonight when Marseille face reigning French champions Lille and Redknapp would like to sign Remy before the end of the window.

If Marseille are not keen to sell in January, White Hart Lane officials will try and push for a deal for Remy in the summer. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to give his financial backing to Redknapp, who has performed wonders with Tottenham since he took over. The North London club have lost just once in their last 19 games and big signings will convince Croatian midfielder Luka Modric that Spurs are going places in the future, amid renewed interest from Chelsea.

Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul has also been earmarked as a potential signing and is valued at £10m by the North East side. The Dutchman is yet to agree a new deal at the Sports Direct Arena and is looking to reach the same wages as other top goalkeepers in the league. Spurs are ready to offer Krul more money for a move to Spurs, as they look to reach the Champions League and challenge for the title on a consistent basis. Redknapp is also interested in signing Blackburn defender Chris Samba and a deal seems imminent after the Congolese international missed training on Friday and was left out of Blackburn’s 3-1 win over Fulham yesterday.
