Tottenham turn to Collins as Blackburn insist Samba not for sale

Aston Villa’s James Collins could be a surprise transfer target for Tottenham, after Blackburn rebuffed the London club’s approach for Chris Samba, according to Metro.

Redknapp went public with his admiration for Samba on Saturday, and hinted that a January deal to bring the 27-year-old to White Hart Lane was “not an impossibility”. Samba was left out of Blackburn’s 2-1 FA Cup loss to Newcastle on Saturday, but afterwards Steve Kean insisted that despite his absence Samba is not for sale.

The rebuttal could lead Spurs to look at 28-year-old James Collins, who could be allowed to leave Aston Villa for a fee of as little as £3 million. The Wales international is also sparking interest from QPR and Newcastle.
