Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is confident his side will end the season as the top club in London, The
The Blues are eleven points behind league leaders Manchester City and face a must-win game at Stamford Bridge against Sunderland on Saturday. Chelsea are also eight points behind third place Tottenham and are facing a difficult task to re-assert themselves as London’s top side. The Blues have struggled to be consistent so far this season, but will look to follow up a win away at Wolves and a win against Portsmouth in the FA Cup with three points against the Black Cats.
Villas-Boas believes his side are still capable of catching up to Tottenham and believes the gap is nothing, due to the inconsistency of many sides challenging for the top four. The Blues manager is hopeful that the pressure Spurs face in a relatively new situation challenging for the title will force them to lose some quality and lose points.
‘They (Tottenham) have overtaken Chelsea in the Premier League this season. Both of them have fantastic history, but over the last 10 years, there is no comparison between the two clubs. The question about good football normally belongs to the leaders. When you are under pressure, you don’t do things so well and maybe your quality drops. It might be that fact that makes you lose points’, the Blues boss said.
