Wolves clash a must-win says Villas-Boas

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is pleased that his side have an instant chance to bounce back from their 3-1 home loss to Aston Villa on Saturday, chelseafc.com reports.

The Blues suffered their third home league defeat of the season and go into a game against Wolves at Molineux without a win in their last three games. Villas-Boas’ side are 11 points behind league leaders Manchester City and need a win desperately against Wolves. The Portuguese manager is happy that the club have an opportunity to correct what happened against Villa and have to get points quickly.

Villas-Boas said: ‘In terms of the Wolves game, the easy part is motivation. We don’t have to wait long and it’s a chance to put things right, in the sense of psychological motivation, it’s a plus. What we need right now is points, at the moment it’s not good enough; three points from four matches is not to Chelsea’s standard and we want to avoid having a period like we did last year’.

Chelsea started December brightly with wins at Newcastle and against City, but have failed in their last three with an away draw to Wigan followed by a home draw to Fulham and the weekend’s defeat against Villa. Villas-Boas will be hopeful of a fresh start in 2012 and for Chelsea to keep chasing the leaders with a series of wins.
