Adam hopes to continue Wembley delight with Liverpool

The last time Charlie Adam walked onto the Wembley pitch he was in a Blackpool shirt guiding his team to a play-off final victory, promoting The Tangerines into the Premier League for the very first time. Adam also scored a stunning free kick in that match, bringing back fond memories for the Scot.

Coincidentally, that play-off final victory was against Sunday’s Carling Cup final opponent’s Cardiff City and the former Rangers man is hoping that lightning will strike twice when he meets the Welsh outfit at Wembley for the second time.

Talking to the Liverpool Echo Adam reflects on what he describes as an ‘incredible’ day in his career: “Cardiff were a good side, but I knew that day that there would be only one winner. We had done so well all season, and nothing was going to stop us.”

Since joining the Reds, Charlie Adam has played more league games than any other Liverpool midfielder, featuring in 25 matches so far this term, and netting twice. The 26-year-old former Rangers man has found himself integral to the midfield for large periods of the season, where Setevn Gerrard and Lucas Leiva have been out with injuries.
