Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe believes that Sunday’s game with Arsenal has more significance for the Gunners and is vitally important, The
Spurs have been flying so far this season, seeing them in 3rd place, and the excellent form of Defoe and his teammates have earned plaudits from Sir Alex Ferguson. Arsenal’s season has not been so successful and they are out of the FA Cup after last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Defoe is the club’s top scorer with 11 goals this season and is looking to score again against Spurs’ arch-rivals at the Emirates Stadium. The England international believes that three points is more important to Arsenal, who are ten points behind Spurs ahead of the game. Defoe could start against Arsenal with the injury problems of Rafael van der Vaart, who is returning after a calf worry.
‘It means more to Arsenal than us obviously because of the way things have gone for them this season. It’s going to be a difficult game, but I’m confident with the way we’re playing. We’ve got a really strong squad now and everyone’s playing well. We’ve got a great chance to go there and get three points’, said Defoe.
