Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has blasted his teammates for failing to convert their chances in Wednesday’s 0-0 draw with Bolton, Metro
The Spanish midfielder returned to the side for the first time in a month after injury and saw his side squander numerous chances to win the game. Arsenal are now without a win in four games and are currently in their worst league form under Arsene Wenger. Arteta has been appreciated by the Gunners fans since his summer move from Everton and he had stern words for his teammates as they look to reach the top four at the end of the season.
Arteta said: ‘This result is not good enough. We have got the players and the quality to have a better result. Hopefully we are going to get the points on Saturday because we really need them – we have been losing too many. I am not saying we are not performing. It is more about details to score and make the game much easier for us. It depends on small details. We had the chances to score and we didn’t. You are not going to get 15 chances. When you get one, especially away from home, you have to take it’.
Wenger’s side are still in the Champions League, but face a difficult task against Italian champions AC Milan in the last 16 of the competition. Arteta is confident that his side will be back in Europe’s elite competition next season and believes that their class and luck will change after a season of injury worries.
