Tottenham have been boosted by the news that injured trio Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Rafael van der Vaart and Emmanuel Adebayor are looking likely to feature in Sunday’s North London Derby against arch-rivals Arsenal, according to The
Assou-Ekotto, who has made the most appearances of any Tottenham outfield player so fat this season, underwent minor groin surgery earlier in the week, and was originally a doubt for the game – however, he has managed to undergo several days of light training since, and is now expected to play a part.
Adebayor, meanwhile, twisted his knee in training last Friday, but posted on twitter yesterday, “Really happy with the progress, knee is looking much better. Working on my fitness for Sunday.” The Togo international has started every League game for Spurs when available, since joining from Manchester City in the summer. Finally, Rafael van der Vaart told reporters, “I’m recovering well from my injury, I’ll be happy to play Arsenal. I can’t wait.” The Dutchman had been sidelined with a calf injury.
Despite these inclusions, William Gallas and Sandro are still on the injury list and will not feature. The fixture gives Spurs the opportunity to widen the gap between them and Arsenal to 13 points, and tighten their grip on third place.
