Sao Paulo’s Brazilian defender Bruno Uvini is expected to arrive in London today, to sign a loan deal with Tottenham until the end of the season, with a view to a £3.2m permanent move in the summer, as reported by The
The 20-year-old captained his country’s U-20 side to World Cup glory in August, prior to which he was promoted to Sao Paulo’s senior side in the summer of 2010. Although not yet capped at full international level for Brazil, he is thought to hold an Italian passport and as such does not require to hold a work permit to ply his trade in England.
Since Uvini has joined Spurs outside of a designated Premier League transfer window, he will be unable to play for the club’s first team this season but can nevertheless turn-out in reserve games, which the player himself identifies as a desirable situation in order to get settled into his new surroundings.
‘“I have just over three months to adapt myself to English football, to the club and the culture. I will grow up a lot in my professional and personal life with this choice,” said Uvini, who was previously understood to have been the subject of significant interest from Arsenal.
