Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech believes that the club’s 3-0 victory over Bolton was much overdue and they are glad to be back on track, chelseafc.com
The Blues were beaten 3-1 in the Champions League by Napoli, but got back to winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 win over struggling Bolton, with David Luiz, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard getting on the scoresheet for the Stamford Bridge club. Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has been under pressure, but the victory was the club’s first in a month and took them into fourth momentarily. Cech has been happy with the positive result ahead of the international break and believes it is about time the club changed their poor home form.
Cech said: ‘We got a positive result so the atmosphere is always better when you win. Especially now with an international break, it’s always good to go away on a good note. There was always going to be pressure prior to this game; we haven’t won our home games of late and it was about time we changed that’.
January signing Gary Cahill echoed Cech’s sentiments about the win over Cahill’s former club and was happy with the deserved win: ‘I think it was a deserved win; we had a lot of possession in the first half, but they were tight and they frustrated us. It was important for us in the second half that we kept on pushing and I always thought that if we got the first goal, we could go on there.’
Chelsea now face two games against clubs in the bottom half of the Premier League table, facing West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City, with an FA Cup replay with Birmingham City in between.
