Chelsea used transfer deadline day to swoop for Nottingham Forest teenager Patrick Bamford in a deal reported to be worth £1.5m. The 18-year-old had previously rejected two contract offers and The Blues took full advantage of the stall in negotiations and secured his signature.
Bamford was out of contract at the East Midlands club at the end of the season so were keen to cash in on their prospect whilst the opportunity presented itself. He has made only two first team appearances but it is his performances in the FA Youth Cup which have caught the eye, scoring four goals in the last 16 against Southampton as well as having netted five in the previous round.
