Dalglish looking to avenge Liverpool defeat to Tottenham

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish believes his side’s 4-0 defeat to Tottenham at White Hart Lane earlier this season will help them in Monday night’s return fixture at Anfield, Sky Sports reports. The Reds sit seventh in the table and will look to put a dent in Spurs’ title chances, as well as increase their own hopes of a top four finish, with victory.

Tottenham’s win was the heaviest defeat during Dalglish’s current managerial reign at Anfield, but the Scotsman expects a more even game at Anfield. The Reds lost Charlie Adam and Martin Skrtel to red cards that day and Tottenham punished them, using their two man advantage effectively. Dalglish is confident his side will perform at Anfield and keep the pressure on the teams around them looking for Champions League qualification.

The Reds boss said: ‘Nothing is completely forgotten about. Everything that you have learned and experienced you have in the bank and if you have to use it you use it. We went there and lost a wonder goal to Modric and Charlie Adam got sent off early on so it was always going to be uphill from there. It was certainly not a pleasant trip but there are positives you can take away from anything’.

Liverpool are in good form leading up to the game after two cup victories over Manchester City and Manchester United was followed by a 3-0 win against Wolves in midweek. Dalglish considers the Reds as one of the better sides in the league, but the Liverpool manager believes that his side can challlenge Spurs and get the three points.
