Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler insists that Luis Suarez has to repay the faith shown to him by the club and manager Kenny Dalglish, The
With the Carling Cup Final taking place between the Reds and Championship side Cardiff City, Fowler will be an interested observer after playing for both sides. The 36 year old believes that Suarez has to thank Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish, who stood by the striker in the wake of his eight game ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra, and repay him with good performances for the Reds.
Fowler said: “Suarez owes a big, big debt of gratitude to Kenny Dalglish. No-one knows for sure what actually happened between Suarez and Evra, but Kenny really put himself in the firing line by standing up for his player. Different people have different opinions on whether he was right to defend Luis the way he did. I am sure that Kenny has left Suarez in no doubt about how he is expected to behave when he’s wearing the Liverpool shirt.”
No stranger to controversy himself, Fowler celebrated a goal in the Merseyside derby with Everton by pretending to snort the lines marking the penalty area and was banned by the FA, just like Suarez. Fowler was backed by Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier and believes Dalglish has done the same with the Uruguayan, who needs to lead the Reds to glory at Wembley.
