Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that winger Gervinho is likely to play a part in the FA Cup fifth round tie with Sunderland next weekend, arsenal.com
The Ivorian international is set to feature in Sunday’s African Cup of Nations final against Zambia after scoring the goal to put his nation into the final. Gervinho has been away from the Gunners squad since the tournament began at the start of January and with Thierry Henry’s loan move ending in the next week, the Ivorian is due back straight after the final.
Wenger insists that the Champions League tie with AC Milan on Wednesday would be too soon for Gervinho, but he is available for the FA Cup tie against Sunderland. Arsenal travel to the North East to face Martin O’Neill’s side this weekend and Henry is expected to feature in what will be his last league game of his two month loan spell.
The Arsenal boss said: ‘Gervinho is in the final. I have had him on the phone and sent him some messages a few times. He plays the final and you know what the rule is – 48 hours later, he has to be back. I see him playing on Saturday, not on Wednesday.’
