Higuain not interested in Chelsea move

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is ready to snub a move to Chelsea in the summer and commit his future to the Spanish league leaders, Metro reports. The Argentinian has been in superb form this season and has 14 goals in La Liga this season, but his future is still in the dark.

Reports have suggested that Chelsea made a £33m bid for the 24 year old, but found Higuain unwilling to move to West London. The Blues may return in the summer to sign the striker, who is being earmarked as a replacement for Didier Drogba. Andre Villas-Boas is looking to move Drogba at the end of the season and is hoping that Higuain can replace the 33 year old. Fernando Torres is still struggling to rediscover the goalscoring form he had at Liverpool and Villas-Boas wants the 24 year old to improve his forward line.

Higuain does not want to move his family away from Madrid and is also hoping to help the Spanish side to the Champions League this season. Madrid can win the Spanish title for the first time since 2008 this season and have established a seven point lead over second-placed Barcelona. Chelsea are hopeful that Madrid make a move for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, which may allow Higuain to move away.

The Blues only have Torres and young Romelu Lukaku as their recognised strikers, with Drogba at the African Cup of Nations, and Villas-Boas will be hoping Torres can regain his scoring form in a crunch game on Sunday. Chelsea face Manchester United and need to win so they don’t lose further ground on league leaders Manchester City.
