Kuyt delighted to reach 50 league goals for Liverpool

Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has admitted his relief at notching up his 50th League goal for Liverpool, reports Goal.com.

Despite scoring thirteen goals in the 2010-11 season, Kuyt had failed to find the net in the Premier League during this campaign before his goal last night in the 3-0 victory over struggling Wolves. He becomes only the fifth player to score 50 or more goals for the Anfield club in the Premier League.

“It’s something that makes me really proud, as not many Dutch people have come over here and done that, so it’s special,” Kuyt said on the club’s website. “The most important thing though was the team won and we deserved it. It was great to score another goal and hopefully I can keep going and get a lot more now.”

Kuyt also remains optimistic on Liverpool’s chances of making the top four. “The dressing room is a happy place and we are now looking forward to the next game against Tottenham on Monday, which is an important game in our race for the top four.”
