Kuyt ready for Tottenham challenge

Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt is confident that his teammates are relishing the prospect of facing Tottenham at Anfield on Monday, The Liverpool Echo reports. The Dutchman has been back in the side after a dip in form and scored in his last two games for Liverpool against Manchester United and Wolves.

The Reds go into the game against Spurs looking to close the gap between them and the top four once again and a win over Harry Redknapp’s side will move them eight points away from Spurs in third. Wednesday’s 3-0 win was impressive against a sluggish Wolves and Liverpool will be looking to improve further.

Kuyt said: ‘We said to each other in the dressing room before the Wolves match that the most important thing is to win our own games because teams above us will lose some points. The dressing room is a happy place and we are now looking forward to the next game against Tottenham on Monday, which is another important game in our race for the top four.’

The Dutchman notched his 50th Premier League goal in Wednesday’s win at Molineux and has banished thoughts of him moving away from Anfield. Kuyt was rumoured with a move to Turkish side Galatasaray in January, but along with Reds boss Kenny Dalglish, he quashed reports of a move with two good performances against United and Wolves. Kuyt is expected to start against Tottenham on Monday and will be looking forward to impressing boss Kenny Dalglish again.
