Udinese defender Mauricio Isla has confirmed he is set to leave the Italian club in the summer, which has alerted Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish, ESPN
The Chilean international is versatile in both defence and midfield and was heavily linked with a move to Anfield in the January transfer window. Udinese were unwilling to sell Isla, but the 23 year old is now ruled out until the end of the season with a serious knee injury. Isla has revealed that he has spoken to officials at Udinese and wants to move away from Italy, possibly to the Premier League.
‘I talked to Gino Pozzo [son of Udinese owner Giampaolo], who decided to let me go at the end of the season. I do not exclude the possibility of staying as I was asked to stay for another year. But, for now, all I think about is recovering from this injury as soon as possible’, Isla said.
The 23 year old’s agent Leonardo Rodriguez stated that the Reds were interested in signing Isla and have made enquries. Rodriguez said: ‘I believe that he is being watched by Liverpool and other clubs from Italy. I can’t be sure that any clubs are getting in contact [with Udinese].’
