Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Joao Carlos Teixeira from Sporting Lisbon on an undisclosed deal, reports the Liverpool
The Portuguese youth international plays as an attacking midfielder, and has made 22 appearances for Sporting Lisbon’s U19s this season, scoring 3 goals. Despite this, he is yet to make a senior appearance for the Lisbon, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, the Portuguese club looked to sell this January. Financial problems for Lisbon have also eased his departure.
Teixeira attracted interest through his performances in the recent NextGen series, during which he played against Liverpool in August. The deal bringing him to Anfield has not been disclosed, but the fee is thought to be around £850,000. The 19-year-old will not slot immediately into Liverpool’s first team, instead joining the youth team for at least the remainder of the season.
