Portsmouth defender Sam Magri is to go on trial with Liverpool this week in the hope of securing a permanent transfer to Anfield, talkSPORT
The centre-back has regularly featured at youth level for England and was part of the squad that travelled to Mexico last summer for the Under 17 World Cup. Magri is expected to train with the Liverpool reserves all week and feature in the derby game against Everton on Friday. If the week’s trial goes well, the two clubs will sit down and negotiate a deal over the permanent transfer of Magri.
Liverpool have looked to strengthen their youth policy this season and have signed Wycombe Wanderers forward Jordan Ibe already. Magri is regarded as a good prospect at Fratton Park, but the 17 year old has yet to be named in a matchday squad for the Championship outfit.
The 17 year old confirmed the news on his Twitter page, stating: ‘Just to put everything to bed. Its true in what everyone is saying involving me’.
