Michel: I have never seen anything like Spahic-Medel bust-up

New Sevilla boss Michel has spoken of the training ground bust-up between Bosnian defender Emir Spahic and Chilean midfielder Gary Medel which saw both players left out of the squad for Monday night’s 2-0 defeat at Real Sociedad, claiming he ‘has never seen anything like it.’

According to El Desmarque Spahic made a tackle on Medel during training on Sunday which resulted in the players coming to blows and having to be separated by teammates. Michel quickly resolved the situation by ending the participation of both in the session and sending them home.

Speaking at a Press conference on Tuesday he said: “From what I saw this does not happen in every team. I’ve never seen anything like it, but I must respect and protect a club such as Sevilla. I don’t know what it was about, but from when I arrived here I haven’t felt any bad vibes.

“My decision was to leave them out of the squad,” he explained, “because the authority of the Coach and the club must be respected. My decision was made but I consulted with the people I needed to. I never even remotely thought we would see what we saw after our week’s training.”
