Mourinho influence impresses Grant

Avram Grant has praised former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and believes that he is a truly great manager. The Israelian worked with Mourinho for a short while at Stamford Bridge when the Real Madrid boss was in charge.

Mourinho won two Premier League titles with the Blues and was replaced by Grant at Chelsea following his dismissal in 2007. The Portuguese manager is now at Madrid and holds a seven point lead at the top of the Spanish League. Grant was impressed with the way Mourinho works and believes that he is a good guy off the park, as well as a superb manager on the field.

Grant said: ‘Mourinho brings Mourinho to a club. He is a good manager and has many great attributes. The manager is like a director of the club. Off the park, he is a good guy. I spent three months working with him at Chelsea, which I enjoyed.’

There has been speculation over Mourinho making a sensational return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and Grant believes he will still do a great job. Grant is currently in charge at Serbian side Partizan Belgrade and has managed at the top with Chelsea and the bottom with Portsmouth and West Ham. The Israelian insists that the target at Stamford Bridge is always to play exciting football and the Blues will continue to do so.
