Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has insisted that his first thought is with Spurs and he has not allowed himself to think of the vacant England job, The
Redknapp was cleared of tax evasion charges on Wednesday morning and by Wednesday evening, he was immediately linked with the England job. Former boss Fabio Capello resigned over the incident to strip John Terry of the England captaincy and the Spurs boss has been thrown into the ring for the job. Redknapp has led Spurs to third place in the table and it is highly doubtful he will leave the duties to manage England at the upcoming European Championships.
The Spurs manager said: ‘I’ve not even thought about it. I’ve got a job to do. I’ve got a big game on Saturday for Tottenham. Tottenham is my focus … They [the FA] will make whatever decision they want to make. Hopefully it’ll be the right decision for the country but my focus is all on Tottenham.’
Redknapp admits that he was surprised by Capello’s decision, despite everyone knowing he was planning to leave after Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. The Spurs boss praised the club’s fans for the way they have praised him and Redknapp does not plan to leave the club anytime soon. In his time in charge since being appointed in 2008, Redknapp has took Spurs to a Champions League quarter-final and established them in the top four this season.
