Alan Shearer has thrown his weight behind Harry Redknapp to be the next England manager, reports BBC
The former England captain, who made 63 international appearances, was speaking on the BBC’s Football Focus programme, and said of Redknapp, “I think he is made for it. The vast majority of fans would say that Harry Redknapp is the man – we all hope it works out, but there are no guarantees in football.
“He understands players, and players understand him. That is a perfect mix. I’d move heaven and earth to get him.”
Meanwhile, The Mirror claims that Spurs will demand £5 million compensation from the FA if they want to get their man. Redknapp is still under contract for a year and a half, and Tottenham director Sir Keith Mills said, “If he is approached then Harry clearly has a big decision to make. Our position has been clear – the fans want Harry to stay at Tottenham, the players and the coaches do, the board does, and we hope he does stay.”
