Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has warned striker Luis Suarez that he will not walk straight back into the first team when he returns from suspension, The
The Reds are in good form after reaching the Carling Cup finals and knocking Manchester United out of the FA Cup last weekend, which could stop Suarez making an immediate return to the starting line-up. Dalglish has to take into consideration the form of Andy Carroll, Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt before picking his side against Spurs and Suarez may be left on the bench against Spurs.
Dalglish said: ‘There is a lot to be taken into consideration; the fact he’s not played for over a month and more importantly how well the other players have done in his absence. It is a good thing for everybody as long the competition is quality competition. We have always said squads have good quality here and we’ve no reason to change that. For us it is a difficult job because everyone trains hard to get picked and play and someone is going to be disappointed.’
The Scotsman is delighted with Suarez’s return to the squad and is looking forward to the Uruguayan helping his side kick on into the second half of the season. Liverpool are four points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, but have to wait until Monday to play Tottenham and look to keep the pressure on.
