The 27-year-old Brazilian international spoke to Mundo Deportivo on arrival in Saint Gallen, Switzerland, where he is representing his country in their friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday .
“One never knows what can happen in the future,” he said. “I know from friends and the Press that Barca are interested in me but for now I’ve had no concrete offers. I leave that in the hands of my representatives but at the moment all I am thinking of is Milan becoming champions again.”
Even so, if a firm offer from the World and European champions did arrive along with the chance to sign for Barcelona, Thiago has no doubts what his response would be.
“Right now Barca have the best team in the world. Despite not having such a good time at the moment, in my view they are the best in the world and every big player dreams of one day playing in a side like that,” he admitted. “But I accomplished one dream of playing in a great team and for now Barca will have to be put to one side.”
After a disappointing start to the season Milan are leading Serie A with 51 points, one more than Juventus, and have one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals following a 4-0 demolition of Arsenal in their first-leg last 16 tie at the San Siro. Having crossed swords in the group stage earlier this season, there is the chance Barca and Milan could meet in the final in Munich on May 19, something Thiago considers would be a special moment.
“I would love to play in the final no matter who the opponent is but to do it against Barcelona would be a unique moment in my life,” he insisted.
