Tottenham join Arsenal in Lascelles chase

Tottenham are planning on a battle with Arsenal to sign highly rated Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles, according to Daily Mail.

Lascelles, 18, has made just one appearance for the Championship side, which came in their recent defeat at Burnley. However, he has made seven appearances for the England U19 side, in which he has impressed, and he is seen as a highly promising prospect for the future.

Arsenal had a £5 million bid for Lascelles rejected last January, before the player signed a professional contract with Nottingham Forest in March 2011. However, Spurs are hopeful that a summer deal will be possible, with Forest still searching for financial investment after previous monetary difficulties.

Lascelles is not the only young player at Forest to have been espied by Premier League clubs – in January, Chelsea signed 18-year-old striker Patrick Bamford for a fee of £1.5 million, after he impressed in the FA Youth Cup.
