Villas-Boas in triple Porto swoop

Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas has revealed to Sky Sports that Hulk, the forward who helped him to an incredible Quadruple in Portugal last season, fits the kind of player he would like to recruit. Villas-Boas conducted an interview with Portuguese radio station TSF and also hinted that Salomon Kalou and Florent Malouda could leave the club this summer.

Villas-Boas said: ‘We have Kalou and Malouda, both of whom are nearing the end of their contracts, while Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge are the future. As such, there will surely be a place to fill and I see room for an explosive player on the wing, someone who is strong in one-on-one situations and Hulk fits that profile’.

Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa claimed that Hulk has an £85m release clause, and relations between Villas-Boas and Pinto da Costa appear to be better than before. Villas-Boas was invited to watch the Europa League tie with Manchester City last week and the Chelsea boss was looking at Moutinho and Pereira to improve his squad.

The Chelsea boss added: ‘They (Moutinho and Pereira) could surely play in the Premier League and at Chelsea’. Pereira could be seen as a replacement for Ashley Cole and Moutinho plays in the same vein as current Blues midfielder Frank Lampard. Villas-Boas has reportedly argued with both Cole and Lampard this season and both have been excluded from recent starting line-ups in important games of late, most notably in Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat away to Napoli last week.
