Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has insisted that his side have the capabilities to beat Napoli on Tuesday and go on to win the Champions League this season, The
The Blues struggled to a 1-1 draw with Championship side Birmingham City on Saturday and now face a midweek replay at St. Andrew’s. That result did nothing to reduce the pressure on Villas-Boas, who has seen his players produce bad performances at the wrong time of the season. If Chelsea play the same way they did on Saturday against Napoli, they face the possibility of elimination, but Villas-Boas is confident his players would raise their game.
Villas-Boas said: ‘If you go past Napoli then you can have a really good chance, depending on who you get in the draw – if you get a good draw. It will be a massive challenge. Everyone saw what Napoli did in a group which put another English team out. The Champions League is a competition that everyone wants to win. The players will feel much more tension and feel it much more.’
Chelsea raised their game in the Champions League final group game with Valencia when the Blues had to win and they were inspired by striker Didier Drogba. The Ivorian returned from the African Cup of Nations against Birmingham and replaced out-of-form Fernando Torres at half-time, which means Drogba could start in Naples.
