Abramovich lines up Guardiola or Blanc to fill Chelsea vacancy

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is preparing to offer Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola the chance to fill the vacant manager’s position at Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Mail, with current Head Coach of the France national team Laurent Blanc also on the Russian’s shortlist.

The Mail adds that Abramovich is prepared to offer Guardiola £10m-per-season in wages if he swaps the Nou Camp for Chelsea’s West London home. The newspaper reveals Guardiola earns £8m-per-season at Barcelona but with his contract due to expire this summer and no new deal yet signed. Abramovich senses an opportunity to make his move.

But if Guardiola cannot be tempted to Chelsea, the Mail claim Blanc, the former Inter and Manchester United defender, will be approached. Blanc’s contract with the French Football Federation also expires this summer, after Euro 2012, and a tense relationship with his employers suggests a new deal is unlikely to be agreed. Blanc played in the Premier League with United for two years between 2001 and 2003.
