Cologne have stated that they will wait until the end of the season before making any decision on Lukas Podolski’s future at the club, The
Arsenal are the frontrunners to sign the German international and reports suggested a provisional agreement had been signed by both parties. There has been no agreement on a fee and with other European sides monitoring the situation, Arsenal are keen to get the deal completed as early as possible.
Podolski rebuffed a move to Arsenal in January, but only because of his chances of playing at Euro 2012 for Germany. The 26 year old has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 15 goals in 19 appearances. Arsenal are keen to strengthen their forward line in an attempt to keep Robin Van Persie at the club, who has yet to enter negotiations over a new deal.
Cologne coach Stale Solbakken appeared to concede that the German would leave this summer, but wants his focus for the rest of the season. Solbakken said: ‘Lukas is currently an FC Cologne player. We know that he will be until the end of the season. Then we have to see what happens. It is important that he has everything under control and can concentrate on the upcoming games.’
