Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has confirmed Liverpool will open talks with Luis Suarez over a new contract but only when the time is right, according to ESPN.

Ayre has revealed Liverpool intend to offer Suarez an extended and improved contract but feels the timing is not yet right. He said: “Who wouldn’t want Luis Suarez? He is absolutely fantastic. He is such a popular member of our team. But they are the things we talk about behind closed doors, and we will further that discussion when it is right and proper.”
Suarez has this season scored 11 goals for Liverpool despite missing a large chunk of the campaign with an eight-game suspension. But the Uruguayan was on the score sheet on his comeback against Manchester United and opened the scoring last weekend as Liverpool dispatched Stoke City 2-1 to reach the FA Cup semi-finals. Suarez’s tally leaves him as Liverpool’s top scorer this season, and the only Reds player to reach double figures.
