Former Manchester United captain Steve Bruce is interested to see whether Manchester City can cope with their difficult run-in as the title race hots up. Roberto Mancini’s side face a crunch clash with Chelsea on Wednesday, which comes after United travel to Wolves looking to stretch the gap.

In the past, United have run away with titles when they have gone in front, but Bruce does not think that will be the case this year. However, with Mancini preparing his side to face Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle before the end of the season, Bruce will be intrigued as to how the Eastlands side cope. Bruce won the title three times under Ferguson and is looking to see how City react to being behind United for the first time in five months, whilst they are on the same games played.
Bruce said: “They (United) had a tough run of games and they have come through that. Now it will be interesting to see Manchester City’s reaction. It is the first time they have been behind in five months. From a neutral standpoint, let’s hope City stay with them. It doesn’t matter how many talented players you have, make no mistake you get nervous. The first one is always the difficult one”.
