Gary Cahill feels Chelsea are capable of going on another unbeaten run after their good form was ended by Manchester City this week, the
Chelsea lost to City despite taking the lead when Cahill’s effort deflected past goalkeeper Joe Hart. A Sergio Aguero penalty and a late Samir Nasri strike overturned the score line to give Roberto Di Matteo his first defeat since being appointed interim manager at Stamford Bridge.
Cahill is quoted as saying: “The camp is positive and we’re looking to get the run going again on Saturday in what is another big game.”
Chelsea face Tottenham Hotspur this weekend as Di Matteo’s side seek a victory over one of their rivals for Champions League qualification. As it stands Chelsea are fifth in the Premier League, five points behind Tottenham who occupy the last spot for entry into the competition.
Cahill has made nine appearances for Chelsea since switching to West London from Bolton Wanderers in the January transfer window. The England central defender’s goal against Man City was his second for his new club, the first coming days earlier in the FA Cup against Leicester City.
