Arsenal striker Joel Campbell has been backed to become a real handful for the Gunners next season by Fulham midfielder Bryan Ruiz, The
Campbell and Ruiz are international teammates for Costa Rica and the young striker has scored in two successive appearances for his country. The 19 year old scored the only goal in their 1-0 win over Wales for Gary Speed’s memorial match on Wednesday and had scored a wonder goal to help hold world and European champions Spain to a 2-2 draw. Campbell is currently on loan at French side Lorient and is starting to mature nicely with a hope of returning to Arsenal next season.
Ruiz set up the Arsenal man’s goal in midweek and believes that he is an exciting player, who will have a long future in football. Campbell was signed from Deportivo Saprissa last summer having featured in the Copa America and will be looking to impress Arsene Wenger with his ability.
The Fulham playmaker said about Campbell: ‘Joel is an exciting player. In Costa Rica, we don’t have many players playing here in the big leagues, so he has to adapt to those things. He is a very good player, you can see that, and it is because of that Arsenal got him. You can see the way that he moves, he has qualities, and has played in the Costa Rica youth team. Arsenal know that and he will get his chance’.
