Carragher ready to return to Liverpool starting line-up

Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher is set to partner Martin Skrtel against Arsenal after Daniel Agger was ruled out for a month with a fractured rib, the Liverpool Daily Post reports.

The 34-year-old Carragher replaced Agger in the League Cup final last Sunday, playing the final four minutes of normal time and the full 30 minutes of extra-time. The Carling Cup triumph was the 11th trophy of Carragher’s Liverpool career.

Carragher was also part of the Reds’ sides that won the Champions League in 2005, the UEFA Cup in 2001, the FA Cup in 2001 and 2006 and the League Cup in 2001 and 2003, as well as this year’s victory in the same competition.

Having spent his entire career at Liverpool, Carragher has made nearly 700 appearances for the Reds, scoring four times, since his debut in 1996-97. Carragher has also appeared 38 times for England, playing at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
